Thanks for the update!
Yes, Chef ...Hey Little B!
Thanks for the update!

Yes, Chef Marilyn is awesome, isn't she? She dealt with us in May.

So sorry to hear about 1900 PF. It really depends on who you happen to get. I just had a Chef TJ-less meal there that was great, but it really all comes down to who cooks for you, sad to say. (I've had a couple of clunkers there in the past too...)

I've never been to Riverside but that sounds amazing! I'd love to try the jambalaya.

Thanks for the update, and I'd love to hear more when you get back. Enjoy the trip!vegansatorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02470476710210650785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-21119966519271904792011-11-11T18:56:04.465-05:002011-11-11T18:56:04.465-05:00We're still at Disney, but I wanted to mention...We're still at Disney, but I wanted to mention a find I haven't seen mentioned anywhere in case someone is on their way. Boatwright's at Riveraside is awesome! The chef made us an awesome spinach salad with two kinds of beets and vegan candied pecans. I had the veg jamabalaya, which was delicious. My husband asked for a vegan pasta and was served an awesome orrechiette dish. My daughter asked for pasta and veggies and was made a salad, pasta with marinara and steamed carrots and green beans. For dessert, he made us sundaes. 1900 Park Fare was a huge disappointment. Chef TJ wasn't there and the food made for us was bland and oily. Fortunately, my daughter couldn't get enough of the stepsisters. Tusker House has by far been my favorite. Chef Marilyn was amazingly accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious.Little B Bunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14976419167503185893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-25038194143435403882011-10-16T13:33:52.977-04:002011-10-16T13:33:52.977-04:00Hey AJ

I am not really vegan. I will eat things prepared with butter or milk if there are no other options, no eggs or meat of any kind though and I am real weird about the hidden animal derived ingredients that I have trouble pronouncing. It is just all real gross to me. I traveled with my husband, my six year old twins, and my parents – all meat eaters. Here is what I ate and my experiences dining at Disney.

Day 1 – Vegan chili, fries, and apple pie at Columbia Harbour House – always very good
Day 2- Lunch -Tusker House – Marakesh couscous, roasted potatoes, pita bread, and fresh fruit – best pineapple ever, not crazy about much else
Supper- vegan pizza at Wolfgang puck express- tomatos, zucinni, onion, and peppers,NO cheese- Special ordered – very good but it could have used a little sauce
Day 3 – Lunch – Via Napoli -their vegetable pizza minus the cheese added olives- OK but no where near as good as Wolfgang Puck
Supper – Garden Grill – special ordered- vegetarian pot pie no topping to make it vegan, side of corn and other mixed veggies (heavy on butter if that bothers you), bread, fruit crumble ( again has butter in the topping, comes with cream but they put that on the side – I talked with the chef here – not a great meal, however I think my special order was better than my families preplated meal – good only if your kids really want to eat with Chip and Dale, mine did
Day 4- Pop Century food court – Lunch – Black bean burrito (not on the menu) pick your own toppings, comes with tortilla chips – this was good, but I tried to order it later in the trip at supper and the black beans have meat in them at night
Supper – food court again- Asian salad no chicken -I did not ask about the dressing – just hoping for the best – I really wanted the salad so I really just did not want to know – it was a good salad
Day 5 – Lunch – Hollywood and Vine – Bean cassarole and rice, roll, tofutti ice cream (you have to ask) with strawberry syrup – I really like the mixed beans here
Supper – vegetable soup (food court again)
Day 6- Liberty Tree Tavern (had not planned to eat here, but it turned out Ok) Liberty salad – no meat, cheese or pecans (candied with egg glaze, I was sad because I really wanted pecans in the salad)- talked to the chef- he thought I was crazy because they have a vegetarian burger that he can make vegan – I just don’t like fake burgers it is too much like the real thing plus I can’t help but think there are gross animal by products in the bun – he really recommended the burger but reluctantly made the salad – it was pretty good with just greens, dressing, cranberries, and apples. I also got a very good strawberry sorbet.
Day 7 – 50’s Prime Time – spaghetti and “meat”balls- on the menu, minus cheese to make it vegan, decent if you like spaghetti. I did not try the “meat”balls, I just pushed them to the side, I had another tofutti sundae, and a vanilla coke – the coke was great!

Snacks – Divvies cookies (first time to try them – I am definately a new Divvies fan), donut and cupcake top from Babycakes ( I am not a fan. The donut was the size of a half dollar and very dried out. The icing on the cupcake top was foamy and gross). Pretzel and popcorn (Disney has the best popcorn ever!)

I hope this is helpful to somebody headed to Disney and don’t forget get fastpasses to Toy Story Mania early – it’s the best ride there! Also if you have a little boy between 4-10 sign him up for Jedi training.

AJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-64397442914211513832011-10-10T08:13:20.543-04:002011-10-10T08:13:20.543-04:00Thanks so much, Kait!

This Saturday my Mom is coming up and i have made a week worth of reservations, so we shall see what vegan concoctions the Disney chefs can prepare, i'll be posting each day! But I am so happy I came across your post there are definitely some quick serve restaurants i'll have to remember to try.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12733082133988605195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-87318998714909990972011-10-05T15:58:18.799-04:002011-10-05T15:58:18.799-04:00Hi Little B!
Thanks so much for the love! :-)
Th...Hi Little B!
Thanks so much for the love! :-)
That sounds like it'll be a pretty exciting trip. I've always found the MK to be a bit short on good table service options. Obviously the castle is a pretty magical place to eat for a birthday, though as for the vegan-friendliness of the menu, I can't vouch. (I haven't eaten there since my omnivorous days.) In fact, here's the menu. Not particularly vegan-minded. http://allears.net/menu/menu_crd.htm

That said, I'm sure if you call ahead the chefs would do something nice for you.

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest probably the other obvious, saving two birds with one hand... (still trying to find a suitable vegan version of that phrase)... by hopping over to the Grand Floridian and eating at 1900 Park Fare with Chef TJ, since it's every vegan's must have meal in Disney, and it's a princess meal where she'll get to meet Cinderella and family. I'm sure they'll play it up well for her birthday. You will need to check to see if her birthday falls on a day that Chef TJ works.

As for other in-MK dining, I haven't been to Crystal Palace in about 4 years, and it's fun, but not what I'd call "special". The Liberty Tree Tavern is definitely not a prime vegan-friendly restaurant, and not good for a girl's birthday either.

Likewise, Tony's is okay, (or it was the last time I went which was also 4 or 5 years ago) but not what you're looking for. And if I'm not forgetting anyone, that's it for table service dining in MK! Slim pickings.

I hope that helps!
As for vegan breakfasts, most buffets will make vegan waffles or pancakes. Don't expect tofu scrambles or vegan sausage, but you can almost always get bagels, cereal and Silk soymilk. What I normally do is bring a box or two of oats and cereal from home, and then get a Silk in the resort cafeteria. I eat the cereal in the room before we leave early each morning. Then we make our lunch reservations around 11:00am so we don't need to fill up on a big breakfast.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Good luck!vegansatorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02470476710210650785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-21011317538472419412011-10-03T11:57:42.202-04:002011-10-03T11:57:42.202-04:00Love your blog! I haven't been to WDW since I was 12 and a meat eater, so this is all a little intimidating. I have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind. We'll be in the Magic Kingdom for my daughter's birthday. She too is vegan and a pretty adventurous eater. Where would you recommend we make reservations? I'd like to do something really special. Also, is it very difficult to find vegan breakfast options? Thanks so much!Little B Bunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14976419167503185893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-33503870912716067222011-09-19T21:18:30.096-04:002011-09-19T21:18:30.096-04:00Hi Bethany,

Of course things turn on a dime down there. We're booked for the end of October so I should be starting the process soon, so I should know for sure before long.

As far as contacting him, I have his email address, but it takes quite a while to hear back from him usually. The best bet is to call the GF's front desk, ask to be connected to the Grand Floridian Cafe and ask at the podium if he's still there, and if they can tell you his schedule. They usually won't know for sure until a couple weeks before, but at least it would give you an idea.

Good luck and please let me know if you hear anything!vegansatorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02470476710210650785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-24150966075687380022011-09-15T23:16:59.262-04:002011-09-15T23:16:59.262-04:00Hi,

(or more importantly if he will be in early October)
Also, is there any way to contact him (other than meeting him previously) considering Disney doesn't give any information on his where abouts or schedule.
Thanks!!Bethany T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02002985985735945751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9013881516469238479.post-14302854739549958762011-08-04T11:29:30.085-04:002011-08-04T11:29:30.085-04:00I just found your blog and have been reading it fo...I just found your blog and have been reading it for two days straight. I figure I'll just duck into Epcot quick service during our 1.5-hour lunch break :-)
Do you know what TJ's schedule is these days? Not sure if I'll make it over to 1900PF this time around but I could try, right? Just not before I ride Space Mountain...
Oh, and re: Daiya, I wish I knew what it was. I contacted the company and they were stymied. But I have gotten essentially food poisoning every time I've tried it. I'd definitely say to try it again. I love it.

And yeah, outside of talking to the Chef at Morocco I've heard nothing else about it, so who knows when it'll actually open... The sooner the better!

As for Daiya, it's not there yet. I actually didn't get any cheese this time (they don't have any on hand at Tortuga yet) but in the past I have seen Follow Your Heart and another one I can remember the name of right now. I'm sorry to hear you get sick on the Daiya. Have you pinned it down to any specific ingredient? That's a bummer because it's my go to cheese these days.

Have a great time in September! Maybe I should give it another try. Last time I was there, even though I had an ADR, all of the buffet dishes seemed to have honey or dairy in them.
